WHAT IS IT?

6"X8"
OIL ON CANVAS PANEL
PRICE $100

It's a dead jellyfish. We have been vacationing at Hilton Head Island for many years and this is the first time we have seen so many jellyfish washed up on the beach. I guess I should have asked a local fisherman what is going on but didn't think of it at the time. These kids were certainly interested in the jellyfish.

ASIAN IRIS

7"X5"
OIL ON PANEL
 PRICE $85
As I post this, there is a deer peering at me over our short wooden fence . She is trying to decide whether it is worth jumping the fence to graze on some flowers. They will eat pretty much anything except coleus and certain hostas. A deer can wipe out a hanging basket of flowers in a few bites. They even like tomatoes.

KOREAN LILACS

8"X6"
OIL ON CANVAS PANEL
PRICE$100

These lilacs are growing along our front sidewalk. They grow quickly and have to be trimmed frequently as they grow over the walkway. This year they have more blooms than usual  and smell great. We are still having gray overcast skies and rain...all week! The garden is in bloom but not inviting for sitting outside and painting. Maybe next week.

THE PATH / SOLD

8"X10"
OIL ON BOARD
PRICE $100

I thought I would take another try at a photo of last Tuesday's painting now that I am home and have my regular photo equipment. I'm not sure it is an improvement but I tried. I had a great time last week painting with my friend and fellow artist Linda Nickles. It was a hot but beautiful day on Hilton Head Island. We managed to get in a good four hours of painting before the heat got to us. Check out Linda's painting of the same view at http://lindanicklesfineart.blogspot.com/

GARDEN PATHWAY

6"X6"
OIL ON GESSOBOARD

This is a lovely public garden not far from my home. It has long winding pathways with many varieties of blooming trees and flowers from spring through fall. A great place for landscape painting on a nice day. I only paint outside on nice days because I am a wimp and therefore; not a true landscape painter.
