APPLE PIE 6"X 6" oil on canvas

Maybe the title is a stretch but the apples do sort of form a pie shape. Or maybe it's because I had apple pie for breakfast today. Apple pie and coffee, the breakfast of champions. Or lazy people who don't want to cook.

BOWL FULL 6"x6" oil on canvas

I usually have a title in mind when I am working on a painting, not this time. I just sat here staring until I settled on this boring title. This was a great day to be in the studio with all the bright lights. It has been dark and rainy all day but the Jonquils are finally blooming in our garden. A future subject.

DELISH 6"x6" oil on canvas

Another apple with more to follow. These golden delicious apples taste as good as they look. They are also fun to paint. I think cerulean blue and the cad yellows work well for the greens. Cerulean is one of the colors that I use infrequently but sometimes is a must.

NESTLED IN 6"x6" oil on canvas

This is one of those paintings that seem to paint themselves. I don't know why but sometimes it just happens that way. Not often enough for me. Most of the time it is just hard work so I guess this is my reward. I often wonder if we artists would stay interested if it became too easy. I don't know but I would like the reward a little more often.

POPPIES SOLD

I just saw a great exhibit at The Dayton Art Institute. It is sixty paintings by California Impressionists from the Irvine Museum collection. Beautiful paintings. These artists were painting in Laguna Beach before the population explosion. Poppies and lupine were growing everywhere. Not quite the same but here are some Ohio poppies.
