PEONY GARDEN

8"X8"
OIL ON PANEL

It has been a long time since I have posted but trust me, I have been busy. I would love to say that I have been traveling to far off countries but only in my head. Two years ago we had to take a very large sycamore tree out of the back garden. As a result, my shade garden turned into a sunnier space and most of my shade plants died in last summer's awful heat. I have been replacing them with more
drought tolerant plants and Knock Out Roses. I have never been able to grow roses before because of the shade so I'm pretty excited about having some roses to paint. Stay tuned.

The above painting of peonies was painted in a friend's peony garden last month. It was a gorgeous May day and just a pleasure to be outside painting.

I love your peonies, especially the white ones. Well done.

Knock-Out roses are tough. They should do great in the sun. They are about the only variety that will flourish in San Antonio's brutal summers.

Thanks Virginia. For some reason the white ones were easier to paint.
I'm glad to hear the roses are tough because it is tough to be a plant in my garden.
