PURPLE ORCHID

This orchid is one of probably hundreds at FRANKLIN CONSERVATORY in Columbus, OH. I have no idea what type of orchid it is but it was certainly beautiful to see. If you live in OH, it is worth a visit anytime of year. I started this painting on a bright yellow background. The same color I use sometimes as an underpainting for landscapes.

This little painting has such energy, Anita . . . lively, expressive brushstrokes and vivid color! What a treat to be able to visit the Franklin Conservatory.
